The Statistician's Circle

We found different kinds of graphs exist.  You can use these to help show your DATA.

We can also show our data as a Pie graph.  We thought a pie graph could also be called a steering wheel graph, a pizza graph, a wheel graph a cake graph or even a circle graph just as easily as a pie graph because it looks like all those things too!
We made a circle and everyone stood beside each other with our pictures from our Strip Graph yesterday.   We found the centre and then drew lines into the centre to show where each breakfast ended and started.  Our lines were a bit wiggly, we should have used a ruler according to Professor Lachlan Flint!  We can still see which section is the biggest though.  The bigger the piece the more people had that item for breakfast.
Pie Graph
We made a pie graph of our breakfast this morning.

This is our strip graph of Superstar's Breakfast this morning.  We grouped similar items together.  We think it is easier to see if all the cereal is together and the same kind of cereal is next to each other too!

Number Talks

Amy and Ashley ran an amazing number talk with the Mathmagicians!   This is what they helped us think about.....

We all decided and agreed that the answer to 14x3 is 42.

Amy and Ashley did such a great job asking everyone to explain their thinking that Mrs B invited them to do a number talk with the Twirls.

Amy and Ashley helped us realise if you do
10x 3 = 30 and then you need also need to add on 4x3.
Well done for helping us learn from our mistake (only adding on one four).
